Potassium Sulfate
This fertilizer is used primarily for potatoes, tobacco, vegetables, fruit, citrus, legumes, corn, cotton, sugar beets and in greenhouses. If not enough potassium sulfate is given, yellow or reddish-brown spots appear on the leaves. Potassium deficiency is most frequent in irrigated agriculture or heavy rainfall areas. Potassium sulfate should be applied in soils that are low in mineral composition or sandy. Because it is acidic in composition, it will raise the level of soil acidity when it is used repeatedly over the years. When it is used in acidic soil, it should be used in combination with lime. Because of the sulfur in its composition, it provides plants with the sulfur they need.
